Walter Schreifels is a rock legend and producer based out of New York City. In the late 80's, he played in notable New York hardcore bands Youth Of Today and Gorilla Biscuits. After GB disbanded in 1992, Walter formed a band called Moondog which eventually transitioned into the more metal-oriented post-hardcore band Quicksand. Walter then collaborated with his former GB bandmates in the melodic hardcore band CIV. Later, he helped create the melodic indie rock-styled band Rival Schools. Rival Schools served as a hardcore "supergroup," with members from many of Walter's previous bands, until they called it quits in 2003. Walking Concert, his next project, was heavily influenced by classic British acts such as Elvis Costello and David Bowie. In June 2008, Walter reformed Rival Schools with plans to release a new album in addition to a new solo acoustic LP scheduled for release in early 2010. Walter has been a good friend of ours and OKAY!! OKAY!! will be working with Walter to fulfill various marketing needs. For more info please contact us at info@okay-okay.com.

Our friend Zach Hooper has been releasing banger after banger of mini movies he's been putting together, mostly of his Colorado based homies. We're just going to go on record here and say this, If your Snowboard movie doesn't have Zack Hooper touching it then your snowboard movie ain't worth shit. I know it's a bold statement and a lot of our friends in the industry might catch feelings but I can't remember the last time I watched videos that made me pray for snow the way his do. Maybe it's the music, maybe the fact that there are so many hand held shots that after a while you actually feel like YOU are riding, whatever it is it's ridiculous AND here is a fact; Zach Hooper is the new HOT shit of Snow film. Now which of you brands out there are going to get him while he is affordable.
Check out what Trent Reznor has to say on the reinvention of the game in regards to the power of technology and how fast it all moves. Make sure you take note of his notion that we are essentially limitless! Your only limit is your imagination. Reznor speaks to the diy spirit that represents the music biz today:
I posted a message on Twitter yesterday stating I thought The Beastie Boys and TopSpin Media "got it right" regarding how to sell music in this day and age. Here's a link to their store:

Shortly thereafter, I got some responses from people stating the usual "yeah, if you're an established artist – what if you're just trying to get heard?" argument. In an interview I did recently this topic came up and I'll reiterate what I said here.
If you are an unknown / lesser-known artist trying to get noticed / established:
* Establish your goals. What are you trying to do / accomplish? If you are looking for mainstream super-success (think Lady GaGa, Coldplay, U2, Justin Timberlake) – your best bet in my opinion is to look at major labels and prepare to share all revenue streams / creative control / music ownership. To reach that kind of critical mass these days your need old-school marketing muscle and that only comes from major labels. Good luck with that one.

Zach is a good friend of ours. We’ve known him for a very long time and could go on for days about how incredible a producer/ DJ & performer he is. For years, we’ve been saying he’s the best DJ and now it’s official; Voted as America's best DJ, he is the star of a new video game and has just started a residency at the Palms in Vegas (for those that don’t really know-kind of a big deal.) He’ll continue to dominate and we will continue jocking him.

We were introduced to the documentary film making couple this past spring. We had known about Skatopia for a long time. We’d heard all the rumors, read the article in Rolling Stone. It was all of sort of hard to understand but when Colin and Laurie showed us the movie we knew this was something very special. OKAY!! OKAY!! was brought on to work on the films Marketing, Press and most importantly Partner Relations. This entire place, the movie and how we’re going about it is as DIY as it gets. That’s the true essence of Skateboarding. Check it out and drop us a line to lean more about it all.
Skatopia: 88 Acres of Anarchy is a feature documentary that follows one of skateboarding’s most infamous underground figures. Pro-skater Brewce Martin is the self-declared “dictator” of an extreme rural Appalachian skate scene. The movie follows Brewce as he struggles to keep Skatopia afloat. Though he declares skating his “prime directive”, the film reveals a fiercely driven entrepreneur determined to achieve success on his own terms.
Check out pics from the July 11th world premiere in New York City at the ACEfest indie film festival…
Skatopia’s owner, Brewce Martin, dreamed of a place where he could live and breathe skating… a place where people forget their “outside” lives by plunging into high-energy craziness. A continual work-in-progress, this rural farm is a mecca for skaters who want to live outside society’s rules.
